Harry Styles: Biography, Family, Music & Personal Life

Few pop stars wear their contradictions as easily as Harry Styles — the former boy-band member who turned a solo career into a second act. Beneath the stage persona sits a quieter record: parents who divorced when he was seven (Encyclopaedia Britannica), a mother at the center of his family story, and a private life he guards closely. This is that record — family, relationships, listening habits, and daily routines, pulled from the profiles and interviews that document them.

Full name: Harry Edward Styles ·
Born: 1 February 1994 (Biography.com) ·
Nationality: English ·
Occupation: Singer, songwriter, actor ·
Height: 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m) (E! Online)

Six data points, one pattern: the official record is solid on the basics and deliberately vague on everything he hasn’t chosen to confirm.

What is Harry Styles’ ethnicity?

Styles was born in Worcestershire, England, and is English — white British in the standard phrasing. E! Online‘s essential-facts primer names Evesham as the town; Biography.com‘s profile points instead to Bromsgrove or Redditch, all in the same county. The discrepancy is minor but persistent: the county is fixed, the town depends on which profile you read.

He was raised in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, after his family moved there when he was an infant (Encyclopaedia Britannica), and he attended Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School (Hello Rayo).

What is Harry Styles’ religion?

• Not publicly confirmed. Biographical summaries record no declared faith, and Styles has not spoken publicly about religious practice (EBSCO Research Starters).

How old is Harry Styles in 2026?

• Born 1 February 1994, he turns 32 on 1 February 2026 (Biography.com).

The pattern: the profile writers agree on the big markers — England, Holmes Chapel, one school, one sister — and keep tripping over the small print, which is exactly what happens when a family stays private.

Does Harry Styles have a partner?

Styles has not publicly confirmed a partner in years, and People’s timeline of his known relationships shows why the present tense stays off the record (People).

The documented list is short and mostly from his twenties: a reported pre-fame relationship with Felicity Skinner, a 2011 link to television presenter Caroline Flack that ended in early 2012 in what Styles called a mutual decision, and a brief 2012 connection with Taylor Swift that reportedly inspired two songs on her album 1989 — “Style” and “Out of the Woods” (People).

Who is Harry Styles’ closest friend?

• Profiles most often name his One Direction bandmates, especially Louis Tomlinson, as his long-standing inner circle (EBSCO Research Starters).

The trade-off: the quieter he keeps the present, the louder the past gets — his dating history now reads like a 2010s pop-culture greatest hits list.

Are Harry Styles’ mum and dad still together?

No. His parents, Anne Twist and Desmond Styles, divorced when he was seven, and he was raised primarily by his mother (Encyclopaedia Britannica; EBSCO Research Starters).

His mother later married Robin Twist in 2013 — with Harry walking her down the aisle and serving as best man (E! Online). Robin Twist died in 2017 after a battle with cancer (Hello Rayo).

How old is Harry Styles’ father?

• Desmond Styles’ exact birth date is not on the public record (E! Online).
• Profiles describe him as being around 60, without a confirmed birth year (E! Online).

Does Harry Styles speak to his dad?

• Styles has said he is not very close with his father, but they remain in touch (EBSCO Research Starters).

Did Harry Styles come from a wealthy family?

• No. His family was middle-class; he grew up in a standard suburban setting and there is no record of inherited wealth in any biographical profile (EBSCO Research Starters).

The implication: the family story is warmer and more complicated than the tabloid version — a stepfather he honored publicly, a father kept at arm’s length, and a mother who remains the through-line.

What kind of music does Harry Styles listen to?

His origin story is well documented: a teenager in Holmes Chapel singing in the band White Eskimo at 16 (EL PAÍS), an X Factor finalist in 2010 (BroadwayWorld), then part of One Direction until the group’s indefinite hiatus in 2016. He signed with Columbia Records for his solo work in 2016 and later founded his own Erskine Records imprint, according to BroadwayWorld’s artist profile (BroadwayWorld).

The listening side is equally consistent. Styles has named Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, and David Bowie as touchstones, and his records sit at the intersection of pop-rock, folk, and glam-rock theatricality (EL PAÍS).

What are Harry Styles’ most popular songs?

• “Sign of the Times” — the lead single from Harry Styles (2017) (BroadwayWorld)
• “Watermelon Sugar” — from Fine Line (2019) (BroadwayWorld)
• “Adore You” — from Fine Line (2019) (BroadwayWorld)

The three tracks that rotate to the top of most profiles are the ones with the strongest chart and streaming runs (BroadwayWorld).

What are Harry Styles’ tour dates?

• According to BroadwayWorld, a new album (Kiss All the Time) and a 2027 tour were announced in 2024 (BroadwayWorld).

What is Harry Styles’ musical style?

• Pop-rock core with folk storytelling and glam-rock showmanship (EL PAÍS).

What this means: Styles makes the music he grew up on — arena rock and 70s songcraft repackaged for a generation that found him on streaming.

Where does Harry Styles live most of the time?

He divides his time between London and California — some sources name Los Angeles, others keep it regional (EBSCO Research Starters). Both homes serve the same purpose: a base for work and a door that closes.

Is Harry Styles a drinker?

• Not a heavy one. He has described himself as an occasional drinker, by choice, in interviews (E! Online).

Who is the wealthiest member of One Direction?

• Harry Styles, by most published estimates, with a net worth around $80 million — ahead of his former bandmates’ reported figures (E! Online).

What did Mick Jagger say about Harry Styles?

The catch: living between two cities keeps his private life private, but it also feeds the machinery that tracks him — homes, habits, and company all become biographical material.

Confirmed facts vs. what’s still unclear

In their own words

“A great performer” with “a bright future.”

— Mick Jagger on Harry Styles, as reported by EL PAÍS

“We’re in touch, but we’re not especially close.”

— Harry Styles on his father, as summarized by EBSCO Research Starters

“A mutual decision.”

— Harry Styles on his 2012 split with Caroline Flack, in a tweet reported by People

The record on Harry Styles is fuller than most pop-star profiles, and it stops exactly where he wants it to. What is documented — family, history, music, habits — stays consistent across reference entries and interviews. What is not — a current partner, a precise net worth, a defined faith — is left to inference. For the celebrity press, the trade-off is concrete: keep running speculative headlines and lose credibility, or wait for his confirmation and risk being beaten to the story.
